Alarms Management

Alarms Configuration

When configuring a test, the users have the possibility to set up alarms to be sent in case of failure or error in the test.

To enable the alarm configuration, select the Alarm tab located on the Add / Edit Test screen.

Raise On defines the trigger for test status on Alarms:

  • Status change: An alarm will be triggered when test result status will change. This will only be triggered on scheduled tests and allow notification of a test result status changing.
  • Failed: An alarm will be triggered every time a test result is failed (test was completed but the threshold was not met).
  • Error: An alarm will be triggered every time a test is reporting error (the test could not start or be completed).
  • Outlier: An alarm will be triggered every time an Outlier is detected for metrics in this test that have Outlier Detection enabled. See Configure Outlier

The alarms can be sent either by e-mail or SNMP.

Both alarms types need to be setup at installation with third party Email (SMTP server) and/or SNMP alarm management system so that traps are generated to it. The administrator can configure only one or the other alarm or none depending on the Hawkeye integration.

You must select at least one Raise on for setting up the alarm. No alarm will be created if no option is selected in the Raise on section.

The user can choose between the different alarm types. The alarm will be on for the duration of the test schedule. Alarm configuration can be seen in the alarm section.

View Alarms Current Settings

The alarms are set based on tests schedules and when these are defined. The alarms will run while the test schedule is active. The Alarms screen displays the currently running tests with alarms setup and their statuses

The alarm information contains: from probe name, to probe name, alarm type and different alarm settings.

To change or remove an alarm, the related test execution needs to be cancelled and re-executed with new alarm settings, if required.

View Alarms List

Selecting the Alarms page on the side bar and clicking the Generated Button will display the alarm list in reversed chronological order.

The alarm list shows the current status of alarms, and the related test data record ID and schedule execution ID.
