Node to Node

Node to Node Testing Topology

The Node to Node (N2N) testing is based upon testing between twp probes. The active probes are deployed in the network at different key locations and controlled by the Hawkeye test controller.

A typical testing topology is described in the following image:

Hawkeye is controlling tests through a central location. Probes are deployed in the different network locations, and run active traffic between themselves to generate traffic flows.

See description of available tests below.

The probes involved can be:

  • XR3000 (up to 2x1GE Auto Media interfaces, +2x10GE SFP+ interfaces, 4x2.5GE copper interfaces, and 1xWifi-6 Interface)+

  • XR-E1S (up to 8x1GE copper interfaces and 4x10GE SFP+ interfaces)

  • XRVM (Virtual Machine delivered as an OVA or QCOW2)

  • IxProbe/ IxTap / IxBypass (2x1G copper interfaces - it can only generate test traffic on single interface )

  • Software probe (on laptop or computer (Windows, Linux) and android devices)

  • XRPi (one ethernet and optional Wi-Fi interface) - End of Development

  • XR2000 probe (up to 6 GE copper interfaces - 2 GE copper interfaces active by default) - End of Development

Node to Node testing allows full control of the tested path, as traffic is generated between nodes. This allows generating predictive traffic to receiving side, generate bidirectional traffic, and setup several classes of services with full control of the traffic sent.

Hawkeye is delivered with a default test type base.
