Report Generation

Generating and scheduling reports can be very CPU intensive.

There are many configurable preferences that will impact report generation.

The parameter Max report generation time sets a maximum amount of processing allowed to generate a report. If this time is exceeded the report is abandoned.

In the Advanced section of preferences, the parameter Maximum number of graphs in a saved or scheduled report sets the maximum number of graphs to be included in a report. After the maximum limit is reached, the report generation is complete.

Manage Disk Storage for Saved Reports

Presently, it is the responsibility of the user to manage disk storage on the Hawkeye Server being used by reports. Over time the disk space of saved reports has been seen at several Customer sites to use substantial amounts of disk space.

Once a user has a SSH session to the Hawkeye server the following Linux command can be useful to maintain deletion of all reports older than 365 days. Changing the value 365 below will change the number of days that reports are kept.

This is a temporary process that will not survive a Hawkeye Server restart but will automatically delete all files older than the configured number of days.

# find /opt/hawkeye/WebServer/SavedReports/ -mtime +365 -exec rm -rf {} \;
